Welcome to my world

Welcome to the world of a professional artist to whom the term "blog" was, until a few nights ago, as much a mystery as why chocolate isn't offered as a staple at every meal. We were enjoying dinner at Pop's, a local hamburger grill with a Scottish highland flair here in Fort Davis, Texas. Over jalepeno patty melts and merlot I asked our good friend and favorite Bookfeller, Jerry Miles just exactly what a blog was, and why, for heaven's sake, a body like me might want one. To keep me from looking so ignorant, my husband Jim kindly seconded my query. We shouldn't have been embarrassed—I mean, it isn't like Jerry is a teenage techie, or one of our numerous nieces or nephews who teethed on html and permalinks.
Jerry and Nelda are rare and out-of-print book dealers, specializing in Southwest publications. When you order a book from Barnes and Noble.com and see the message that the book will be shipped by one of their suppliers, that just might be Jerry. Before we knew him, we used to wonder why he spent so much time at the post office. (We like Nelda a lot.) We rather suspected Jerry had a steamy penpal or something equally clandestine. We learned he was knee deep in book shipments. Not as entertaining as our speculations, but more respectable. He also has a delightfully browser-friendly used bookstore in Fort Davis. Anyway, he's become our offical local consultant on Internet stuff. Like, blogging.
So blame Jerry for this. Altho the mistakes will be mine, you are welcome to blame him for those, too.
Come back, please, after I know what I'm doing. I'll post previews of my newest paintings and share insights into why I created each, offer how-to tips for artists, talk about this interesting part of the world we inhabit. And if Jerry gets a steamy penpal, I'll let you know, right after I call Nelda.

"Coming Storm" my 12" x18" pastel shows you my neighborhood.  I hang my hat outside Fort Davis, Texas. To see more of my paintings, go to my website OldSpanishTrailStudio.com .  Enlarge images there, see a slide show of my work, buy a print or greeting card with one of my paintings on it— or purchase an original if you're so inclined.
Give me your thoughts on life, nature and art!
